In an interview with the xyz.pl portal, former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki spoke about the background to the path taken by Law and Justice to choose the presidential candidate for the 2025 elections.
The former Polish government chief spoke about the chosen candidate Karol Navrocki, but also admitted that during the search PiS was also considering the candidacy of current MP Beata Szydło.

– Prime Minister Beata Szydło was considered. She has good social sense, a good understanding of international relations, and the ability to reach out to different social groups, which in my opinion would make her a great candidate, Morawiecki said.
However, the PiS politician said “different vectors are at work”. – and the Prime Minister is brilliantly implementing our agenda on the international stage. This will definitely strengthen Karol Nawrocki's election campaign, he added.
Morawiecki also discussed considerations for a potential starting role. The PiS lawmaker responded that the investigation was carried out taking into account his character. – I was ready to take on such a challenge, I am loyal to the political camp. However, as a result of various events and analysis, we have taken different decisions, he concluded, adding: “Politics is a team game.”

According to Morawiecki, Naworocki was chosen because “he was the best.” – He has strength, reliability and independence. Although he was not a party member, he had always been a supporter of the state, he said in an interview with xyz.pl.
In the interview, the former head of government also spoke about Karol Navrocki's biggest advantages in the context of the fight against KO candidate Rafał Trczaskovskiy. As he said, the duel between Navrocki and Warsaw's current president will be a competition between “an ideologue and a man of no qualifications.”
– On the one hand, there is a hard-working man who achieved everything on his own. On the other hand, the person best known for his laziness. Mateusz Morawiecki said that justice and right-wing are perhaps Karol's greatest assets: “He is the type of guy who will chew until the last moment.'' – I guarantee you that more will surprise you – he concluded.
Karol Navrocki's participation in the election was announced on November 24th during a convention in Krakow. As PiS politicians have emphasized, Nawrocki is an “independent and civil” candidate who will fight for the palace with their support.
