The Jacksonville Housing Authority selected a new interim CEO on Monday following the resignation of its current CEO.
While the Housing Authority searches for a permanent CEO, the commission approved the appointment of Rosalyn Mixon Phillips, who has served as a Housing Authority commissioner and committee chair and has also served in various roles for the City of Jacksonville.
Committee Chairwoman Heather Horowitz said she has heard great praise for Mixon Phillips.
“We're looking to secure someone who can provide stable leadership during a time when we're experiencing high turnover and not a great corporate culture,” Horowitz says. “We thought it was important to have someone who has experience working with the people who work at JHA, and housing experience is a real plus.”
Mixon Phillips replaces interim CEO Vanessa Dunn, who took over in February after CEO Dwayne Alexander resigned amid turmoil.
The reasons for Dunn's resignation were not discussed Monday.
Mixon Phillips said in a housing authority news release that she is honored to have been selected as interim CEO.
“I look forward to working together to drive positive change that benefits the agency, our staff and the residents we serve,” she said. “There is much work to be done and I am ready to get started.”
Mixon Phillips could be hired as early as this week, subject to a background check and the expiration of his contract. The committee approved Monday that Mixon Phillips will receive a maximum salary of $200,000 and will not be retained for up to one year.
