SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. — Dozens of Florida public high schools have been ranked among the best in the country, according to new rankings released Tuesday by U.S. News & World Report.
The 2024 list of Best High Schools ranks Florida 5th among U.S. states and the District of Columbia. Of the 647 schools ranked in the Sunshine State, 52 are ranked in the top 5% nationally and 242 are ranked in the top 25%.
In Sarasota County Schools, 15 high schools were included in the newly released report.
The rankings include data from nearly 25,000 high schools and look at six main factors: college readiness, state assessment capacity, state assessment performance, achievement of underserved students, breadth of college curriculum and graduation rates.
The top 10 Sarasota County high schools that made the list are:
Pine View School in Osprey is ranked #1 in Sarasota County and #1 in the state of Florida. Suncoast Polytechnic High School in Sarasota is ranked #2 in Sarasota County and #37 in the state of Florida. Riverview High School in Sarasota is ranked #3 in Sarasota County and #71 in the state of Florida. State College of Florida College School in Venice is ranked #4 in Sarasota County and #137 in the state of Florida. Venice Senior High School in Venice is ranked #5 in Sarasota County and #143 in the state of Florida. Imagine School in North Port is ranked #6 in Sarasota County and #258 in the state of Florida. North Port High School in North Port is ranked #7 in Sarasota County and #344 in the state of Florida. Sarasota High School is ranked #8 in Sarasota County and #101 in the state of Florida. #371 in the state of Florida. Booker High School in Sarasota is ranked #9 in Sarasota County and #413 in the state of Florida. Sarasota Military Academy in Sarasota is ranked #10 in Sarasota County and #442 in the state of Florida.
