You may be a proud Gen Z, but is your musical generation Baby Boomer? The new Spotify Music Generation Quiz will help you discover which generation you really lean towards musically, even if you don't want to admit it.
The first-to-market in-app experience, “What's Your Music Generation?” is an interactive, personalized experience on the popular music platform that analyzes the top 50 tracks a user has listened to in the last 12 months to tell them which generation their musical tastes belong to. Results are presented as percentages (e.g., 55% Baby Boomers, 45% Gen X), so your musical generation may span multiple eras.
The fun quiz was launched by Spotify Australia and New Zealand as part of their latest brand campaign, “Connected By Spotify”, and is also accessible in other countries, including Singapore.
Some of Australia’s top influencers have voiced their support for Music Generation Quiz, including Kat Clark (@katclark), Deja Clark (@more.dejankat) and Tony Rhee (@thetonyrhee).
The campaign runs from August 11th to September 15th, and comes on the heels of the recently viral Veggie ID quiz, which tells you which vegetable you identify with based on your personality – always useful information.

The app will ask you which era you think you belong to. Choose between Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X, or Baby Boomers. Before choosing your answer, think long and hard about the songs you've been listening to lately.
The quiz checks your playlist before giving you your results, and unlike personality tests that can be rigged (let's be honest), Spotify doesn't hold back with this one: if you've been binging Britney Spears and Shania Twain for the past year, prepare to be labeled a millennial.
It also tells you which songs from that generation made it into the top three most-played songs, and users can share the results with a simple button.
If your musical generation is Baby Boomer, don't be embarrassed. We all know that some of the best music came out of the 60s and 70s. Rock on!
