TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) is now accepting applications for the department’s Innovative Technology Program for fall 2024.
The program provides financial assistance to government agencies and non-government organizations for innovative transportation-related projects, such as improving safety, improving access and mobility, and implementing new transportation technologies.
“Innovative technologies” are technologies that do not currently exist in the project's local community, allowing local communities to decide which projects to submit based on their own needs.
All transportation systems projects are eligible, including road, rail, aviation, unmanned aerial systems (UAS), bicycle/pedestrian, public transit, software and technology infrastructure.
Candidate projects must provide transportation benefits and include investments not covered by other KDOT programs.
The overall budget for this grant is $2 million, with a maximum grant amount of $1 million per project.
A project concept must be submitted to and approved by KDOT before an application is provided to the applicant.
The deadline for project concepts is November 17th and the deadline for applications is November 30th.
