LINCOLN, Neb. (News Release) – The 2024 Nebraska football season will begin with the Huskers hosting the UTEP Miners at Memorial Stadium on Aug. 31. Kickoff is at 2:30 p.m.
Ahead of the season, the University of Nebraska athletic department is highlighting changes fans can expect when visiting Memorial Stadium and other athletic facilities.
The most notable change for Huskers home events is the athletic facilities switching to cashless venues for all operations, including concessions, tickets, merchandise sales, etc. Fans will also see the latest screening technology at the gates of Memorial Stadium, making entry more efficient and enhancing security.
Cashless operation
Nebraska Athletics will be implementing cashless operations this fall.
Nebraska has implemented cashless concessions at men's and women's basketball games at Pinnacle Bank Arena, and similar operations are now in place at all Husker athletic venues.
Improved Wi-Fi in Memorial Stadium's concourses has allowed Nebraska to implement cashless concessions, and Nebraska also plans to implement cashless operations in women's soccer (Hibbner Stadium) and volleyball (Deveny Center).
Cashless operations also include vendors roaming the stands at Memorial Stadium and purchasing seat backs and game-day programs.
Fans should note that tickets cannot be purchased using Google Pay or Apple Pay.
Gate Inspection
Nebraska Athletics will be implementing a new gate screening process at Memorial Stadium this fall. Walk-through technology will make the screening process more efficient and improve safety for Husker fans.
The new gate scanners do not affect Nebraska's clear bag policy, which remains in place at all Husker venues. Click here for more information.
Athletic Ticket Office and Relocation Announcement
The Athletic Ticket Office has relocated to West Stadium. On football game days, the Ticket Office will be open at Gate 10A near the northwest corner of Memorial Stadium. Game day ticket troubleshooting will continue to be available at Gate 21.
Normal ticket office hours are 9am to 4pm weekdays at West Stadium (Gate 7).
Improved Wi-Fi in concourses
Nebraska has completed the first phase of new Wi-Fi technology at Memorial Stadium. The work is focused on improving access in the stadium concourses. Fans should note that the FanXP wireless network will no longer be available in the stadium seating areas. Fans are encouraged to use the stadium concourses if an enhanced wireless connection is desired.
Mobile Ticket
Fall sports ticket holders should have received their tickets through the mobile ticket option or printed tickets. Fans who have not received their tickets for the fall season should contact the Nebraska Athletics Ticket Office.
The 2024 fall sports season will be the last time Nebraska uses printed tickets. Tickets for all Husker sporting events will be mobile beginning with winter sports in 2024-25. Nebraska football, volleyball and soccer will move entirely to mobile tickets in fall 2025.
Team Arrival/Osborne Legacy Complex Lobby
Nebraska fans are encouraged to continue welcoming the Huskers to Memorial Stadium on game days, with new drop-off areas and walkways for the team. The team's arrival will also include members of the Spirit Squad and Cornhusker Marching Band, giving Husker fans the opportunity to cheer on their team as they arrive on game day.
The football team will arrive near the intersection of 14th and Vine Streets approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes prior to kickoff. The team will walk along the sidewalk, past the Nebraska Coliseum, through the Nebraska Athletic Hall of Fame and into the main lobby of the Osborn Legacy Complex. Upon arriving at the complex, the walk will be renamed Husker Legacy Walk starting this season.
The Osborne Legacy Complex lobby will be closed to the public on game days. Public opening hours for the complex lobby will be announced at a later date.
Sideline Switch
Nebraska Athletics previously announced that the Husker football team will move to the west sideline on game days starting this fall, with the visiting team on the east sideline. There will be no change in team entry locations, with Nebraska's Tunnel Walk entering from the northeast corner and the visiting team entering from the southwest corner of Tom Osborne Field.
TV Timeout Clock
The Big Ten Conference has changed the location of the clock that marks the length of the media break: The clock will no longer be located on the ribbon board at Memorial Stadium but will instead be placed near the southwest 20-yard line of the field.
