(MENAFN – Azerbaijan News) As part of its ongoing efforts to highlight environmental issues, the COP29 Azerbaijan Management Company with the support of COP29 volunteers recently hosted an event titled “Transition to an Eco-Friendly Lifestyle”, Azerbaijan News reports.
Organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the event aimed to discuss the environmental benefits of plastic waste reduction, recycling and sustainable practices. Held at the COP29 Information Center on Baku's seaside boulevard on August 23, the event invited residents to donate a variety of used items, including plastic, paper and batteries, for proper disposal.
Participants were educated through videos and exhibits about the negative effects of plastic use, proper waste disposal techniques, how to recycle paper and the benefits of adopting sustainable habits. Collected waste was handed over to “Tamiz Shahar” OJSC and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources for responsible disposal.
In addition to the waste collection activities, a master class was also held to promote the reduction of plastic bag usage. Participants were encouraged to design eco-friendly bags from durable materials and use these alternatives instead of environmentally harmful plastic bags. The aim of the master class was to foster a culture of sustainability and involve local residents in environmental protection activities.
