Assistant Commissioner Robert Opas of the Police Headquarters' Traffic Office said there will be an increased number of police patrols on roads across the country from Thursday, in time for All Saints' Day. Services will be intensive on November 1. Opho reminded about the need to keep empty things in the cars, to take care of the technical condition of the vehicles and the safety of public transport. It is also necessary to check any changes in the organization of traffic in advance.
From October 31 to November 4, the police are planning to increase the number of guards on the roads. Their task will be mainly to provide traffic on the country's major highways and roads to cemeteries.
Police officers should pay special attention to drivers who exceed the speed limit. They have at their disposal, among other things: laser speedometers with image recording and machines with video recording.
– On November 1st, we have planned about six thousand policemen from the traffic department alone on the roads. On average, there were five to five and a half thousand people in recent years, – said the head. Robert Opas of the Traffic Division of the Police Department. He added that there will certainly not be a shortage of police personnel on the roads, and their activities will be supported by other services.
Last year's data show that 258 road accidents occurred on All Saints' Day, 19 people were killed and 286 were injured. During this period, the police arrested 858 drunken drivers.

Beware of thieves
The belt reminded us to keep heavy and loose things in the car.
– The idea is to prevent the movement of these objects during emergency braking. Snyter, which weighs half a kilogram, brakes at a speed of 70-80 kilometers per hour, increases its weight by several tens of kilograms, and is a danger to life and health, he explained.
Police will also focus on safety on public transport and inside cemeteries.
– Not everyone visits the graves of their loved ones just to light a candle or lay flowers. For some people, this is the period when they want to become rich. We are talking here especially about pickpockets and various types of fraudsters, – said Commissioner Antony Rzeczkowski from the Police Road Traffic Department.
Temporary changes in movement organization
From October 31 and November 1, the movement of motor vehicles and combinations of vehicles with a total permissible weight of more than 12 tons will be prohibited, except for buses and some other means of transport depending on the type of transport.
Before planning a trip to the cemeteries, the police asked to read information about temporary changes in the organization of traffic, expected difficulties, detour recommendations and designated parking on the sites of city offices. He mentioned that in many cases the gate of the cemetery can only be reached by public transport.
As Mikolaj Krupinski, the spokesman of the Institute of Automobile Transport, addressed, drivers should take care of the technical condition of their cars – tire pressure, tread condition, working fluids and other elements before the holiday trips.
You should also plan your trip to avoid heavy traffic on the roads and adjust your speed to the weather conditions, which is especially important at this time of year.
