The resolution of Orlen's shareholders has not yet been passed, but if it is passed, it will pave the way for compensation for the damages caused by the previous board of directors of Daniel Obaytek. For example, Orlen spent PLN 1.5 billion on oil it never received, and during the merger with Lotus – according to the Supreme Audit Office – the assets were sold for at least PLN 5 billion less than their value.
Jarosław Kaczynski defends Daniel Obaitek, the former president of Orlen. – Because today we have a German-Russian condominium in Poland, from where investigations and attacks originate – says the President of Law and Justice.
Not some condominium or a mythical German-Russian conspiracy, but an extraordinary general meeting of Orlen announcing the decision on claims for compensation for damages caused in the course of management. The list of officials includes, among others, Daniel Obaytek.
– You should take Obaitek's pocket, you should take Obaitek's wallet, and let Obaitek return the money now, because he made wrong, wrong and illegal decisions, – explains the left deputy Tomas Trela. – This company was wiped out in every possible way – says Krzysztof Paszyk, Minister of Development and Technology.

Politicians in the ruling coalition recall the scandals of Obaitek's time – for example, the merger of Orlen with Lotus and the sale of part of the assets. – Let me remind you that the oil processing stations and Lotus were sold for nothing, they were sold far below their value – says Dariusz Jonski, a representative of the Civil Alliance.

“Mismanagement” under Obajtek
The first arrest came in the case of the Swiss company Orlen, OTS, which lost huge assets in an undisclosed transaction related to the purchase of Venezuelan oil. – Payments related to contracts, three oil supply contracts that were not delivered to the company – says Mateusz Martyniuk from the Warsaw Regional Prosecutor's Office.
Philip W. – the former executive director of the company – was accused. But the prosecutor's office is still looking for other heads of the OTS. And Daniel Obaitek himself is a Member of Parliament and shines in the right-wing media as a kind of businessman or messiah, unjustly persecuted by the dark forces of the new government.

The PiS member of parliament repeats that Orlen gained a lot of wealth in his time. The only question is whether it was due to Obajtek's talent or mainly due to the economic situation of the world at that time. – The global crisis, there was a big increase in prices, and this is the main reason for the increase in Orlen's profit, – says economist Marek Zuber.
Lowering fuel prices, unreasonable costs, including representation costs, improper decisions, as well as the case of Orlen Trading Switzerland – Orlen lists in the letter. – I have no doubt that Daniel Obaitek is satisfied. He earned millions of zlotys, now he sits in the European Parliament and laughs at other people's problems, says Krzysztof Kwiatkowski, a senator from the Civic Alliance.
The problem, for example, is the investment from the time of Obajtek – Olefins III chemical plant, the cost of which increased from 13.5 PLN to 25 billion PLN. The Prosecutor's Office estimates that the Venezuelan oil scandal will cost PLN 1.5 billion in damages. The Supreme Audit Office reports that during the merger with Lotos, assets were sold at least PLN 5 billion below their value.
Meanwhile, the PiS president continues to praise Daniel Obaitek. – In a positive sense, he performed a real miracle, – says Jarosław Kaczynski.
The declaration of his assets is certainly amazing – as the president of Orlen, Daniel Obaitek earned more than nine million zlotys and more than one million more on the supervisory board of a subsidiary. In addition, fifteen thousand euros per month from a Hungarian construction company associated with Viktor Orbán. Now he has a high salary as a member of parliament. About forty thousand zlotys.
