All Saints' Day is marked by windy weather. It is especially windy in the north. In Pomnr, firefighters conducted several dozen interventions.
The wind is blowing hard in the north of Poland. – Since 8:00 a.m. on Friday, the firefighters of the whole Pommr Voivodeship have conducted about 40 interventions, – said the firefighters of Pommr. Their activity consisted mainly of removing fallen trees and branches from roads and sidewalks. The Government Security Center warns of the danger of wind.
First and second level warnings of the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management are also in effect.
Why is the wind blowing so hard?
– Poland is under the influence of Martin's low pressure system, the center of which moves from Scandinavia to Russia. The whirlwind will push warm and mild air masses into our region – tvnmeteo.pl forecaster Arleta Unton-Piziolek said. He added that cold Arctic air masses are also coming in from the north, which will be preceded by a cold front. This front covers the northern regions of Poland on Friday. The vortex of low pressure, which covers our country, is deep and powerful, forcing the air masses to move quickly. This has already led to an increase in wind speed, especially in the north and northeast of the country.
According to the weather service WetterOnline, the strongest winds on Friday were recorded in Leba (90 km/h), Hel and Gdansk (79 km/h), Ustka (76 km/h), Kolobrzeg, Elblag, Kerrzyn, Suwalki. (61 km/h).
