All Saints' Day is one of the oldest Christian holidays. Its origins date back to the first centuries, when the Church honored martyrs and believers visited their tombs on the days of their deaths.
In the 4th century, all martyrs were honored on one day, but it wasn't until 741 that the celebration date was moved to November 1st, thanks to Pope Gregory III.
It was not until 1970 that the definition of this holiday was officially changed to include “not only the canonized saints, but also all the deceased who achieved perfection, and therefore also their deceased relatives and friends.”

According to tradition, on All Saints' Day, believers visit cemeteries where relatives and friends are buried. Candles placed on gravestones on this day symbolize hope and memory of the deceased, and flowers are a symbol of selfless love.
Thanks to the burning lights, the cemetery looks especially solemn after dark, giving it an incredible impression.
