Officers have found the body of a man suspected of shooting two people, including the mayor of Arnreit, in a forest in Upper Austria. The police search lasted for about a week. Everything indicates that the man committed suicide.
The body was found on Saturday afternoon by officers of the Rapid Response Group from Upper Austria (SIG). Upper Austria's deputy police chief, Rudolf Keplinger, confirmed that it was Roland Drexler, who had been wanted for almost a week and was believed to have killed the mayor of Altenfelden and the former hunting director of nearby Arnreit on Monday. .
The identity of the deceased was confirmed on the basis of fingerprints. An autopsy will also be conducted, which will ultimately confirm whether the wanted person actually committed suicide or not.
