Andrey Tkachenko, one of the closest associates of the late leader Yevgeny Prigozhin, mercenary group Wagner, drowned in Lake Karelia, Russian media reported. According to an independent Telegram channel, WCzK-OGPU, Tkachenko performed “special assignments around the world” for Prigozhin.
Russian media reported on Sunday, referring to the statement of the regional office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, that the body of 37-year-old Andriy Tkachenko, an officer and participant in the Ukrainian war, was found in Segozero Lake. .
According to the “Daily Karelia” website, Tkachenko, who lived permanently in the Leningrad region, came to Karelia with his eight-year-old son at the invitation of his friend Dmitry.

On October 28, Tkachenko, Dmitry and his son went fishing. They boarded a rented boat and went to Lake Siegoziero. At the same time, there was a storm and the ship capsized. It is about 400 meters to the shore. Tkachenko's son managed to swim to the nearest island, but both drowned, Daily Karelia website reports.
Rescuers found the body of Tkachenko's friend on October 30, and his body was found four days later.

According to the Russian press, Tkachenko started the war against Ukraine in November 2022 and returned from the front in June 2024. Before the war, he was a mercenary in Yevgeny Prigozhin's “Wagner” group for about four years and fought in Syria.
The independent publication “Novaya Gazeta. Europe” wrote that while working for Prigozhin, Tkachenko spied on his assignments for businessman Alexander Vinokurov, the son-in-law of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
