Madeira. New prices for tourists
The Portuguese island of Madeira is a must-see destination for many tourists, including those from Poland. It is estimated that more than 2 million tourists visited this mountainous volcanic archipelago last year alone.
However, active tourism enthusiasts planning to visit the region next year should be prepared to pay an additional fee for admission to the 30 most popular tourist trails. This regulation takes effect on January 1, 2025.

As pointed out by local Agriculture, Fisheries and Environment Secretary Rafaela Fernández, quoted by Euronews, the regulation aims to protect natural landscapes and manage the growing influx of tourists. Funds raised will be used to maintain the trail and pay for necessary upkeep.
Fernández said tourists visiting Madeira are aware of the need for conservation and have responded very enthusiastically to the new regulations.
Penalties for rule violations
Currently, you have to pay a fee of 3 euros (approximately 13 PLN) to enter Madeira's seven paid trails. Applies to all travelers aged 12 and over. Residents of the archipelago are exempt.
