Officers of the Siedlse Road Police observed a man walking barefoot on the national highway number two. A 46-year-old man was very hypothermic. His body temperature dropped to 28 degrees, threatening his health.
Siedlce police spokeswoman Commissioner Evelina Radomyska said that on Monday, traffic officers patrolling the area spotted the pedestrian at the entrance to the construction highway in Grezów. Officers noticed that the man had no shoes and was dressed inappropriately for the season.
He seemed confused
When they asked the man if he needed help, he was confused. They called an ambulance.
– A 46-year-old man was hypothermic. His body temperature has dropped to 28 degrees and he needs immediate attention, the spokesman said. Police did not say why the man was unclothed, sick or homeless.
The spokesperson urged that people who suffer from hypothermia should not be neutral in any case. He added that the most victims of the cold are the homeless, the elderly and the drunk outside.
Call the police
Commissioner Radomyska reminded that sometimes a phone call can save a life. – If we observe that people are sleeping or sitting in front of railway stations or on benches in parks, or living in empty buildings, do not hesitate to call the emergency number and inform the services, – said the policewoman.
Prolonged exposure to cold can cause the body's temperature to drop below a safe level, causing hypothermia. Symptoms include tremors, disorientation, and weakness, and in severe cases, loss of consciousness and death.
