Radoslaw Sikorski, the head of the German Foreign Ministry, in response to the question about the collapse of the ruling coalition in Germany, emphasized that this country remains an important partner for Poland. He announced a Weimar Triangular meeting in Warsaw next month and “immediate consultations” with partners from Germany and France. He also once again pointed to the victory of Donald Trump.
On Wednesday evening, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz dismissed Finance Minister Christian Lindner. He is the leader of the liberal FDP, one of three parties that will remain in the coalition until Wednesday.
But due to his resignation, Lindner's party left the coalition. Currently, the SPD, that is, Scholz's party, and the Greens remain in it, forming a minority government.
A vote of confidence in the government is scheduled to be held in the Bundestag in January. But opposition politicians demand that it be held sooner, even next week. If the government does not survive this vote, early elections will most likely be held.

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Radoslav Sikorsky, was asked about the situation in Germany at the press conference.
– Germany has a coalition government, Poland has a coalition government (…). Germany remains an important partner. “Yesterday, we planned the next meeting of the Weimar triangle in Warsaw, it will be held next month,” he said.
He added that he expects “further delayed” consultations with his counterparts from Germany and France.
Sikorski: We hope that Poland is an inspiration for others
The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was also asked whether in the new reality – related to the political crisis in Germany – Poland can strengthen its position in the region in terms of security and defense.
– Poland, we hope, is an inspiration to others – not only in terms of defense spending, but also, for example, in the context of restoring the rule of law, as well as a source of bold solutions in immigration policy. The Minister of the Interior of Germany (Nancy Fazer – ed.) just went to Poland on the border (with Belarus – ed.). We hope that Germany appreciates our role in the entire Schengen area, said Sikorski.
Sikorsky on Trump's election: we will have meaty language
Sikorsky was also asked about the election of Donald Trump as the President of the United States. – Elections have their consequences. We will now use a stronger, more uniform and stricter language for some important issues, said the minister.
When asked whether Trump's election as president means “relaxation” of spending, including NATO member countries for defense, he replied: “I hope so.”
– This will be one of the arguments that we will convince our European partners, for example, to treat the new position of the European Union commissioner for defense and defense industry very seriously, – said the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The head of Polish diplomacy also said that he has repeatedly praised Trump, not only for his words about the need for more defense spending by the countries of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. – I also defined the form – strict and emphatic, because when it was spoken in diplomatic language, some people in Europe did not understand it. It began to sink, countries spent more on defense, but still not enough. So, yes, it will be a change of tone, but I prefer the “word of Christ”: yes, yes, no, no, concluded Sikorski.
