Argentine prosecutors announced Thursday that three people will be charged in the death of Liam Payne, the former One Direction singer. He is a potential drug supplier, a hotel clerk in Buenos Aires, and a close associate of Payne.
Liam Payne, a former member of One Direction, was found dead outside the CasaSur Palermo hotel in the Argentine capital in mid-October. As the local police confirmed, the musician fell from the balcony of the third floor.
According to the Argentine prosecutor's office, the direct cause of death was multiple wounds and internal and external bleeding. The services have already ruled out possible third-party involvement, saying that all indications are that Payne was alone in the room at the time of the incident. A “number of substances” – alcohol and drugs – were found in the star room. Furniture and other items in the hotel room were damaged.
Three people are accused
On Thursday, the Argentine prosecutor's office reported that traces of alcohol, cocaine and a prescription antidepressant were found in the musician's body. At the time of the accident, the musician could be unconscious or completely unconscious.
It is also reported that three people are accused in his death. He is a potential drug supplier, a hotel employee, and close to Payne. All of them were accused of participating in the delivery of drugs to the musician, and the last of the three was additionally charged with “disposal (of the musician) causing death”.
The Spanish-language website Clarin reported that “a person close to Payne” is Rogelio “Roger” Nores, an American businessman and friend of the victim who lives in Argentina. According to this portal, he faces from 5 to 15 years in prison for the aforementioned “dumping”.
The press also reports that the services have searched 9 houses in Buenos Aires as part of the investigation into the musician's death.
