The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that Russian strategic bombers had made a scheduled flight over neutral waters, the Russian Interfax news agency reported on Tuesday. Two of them flew over the Black Sea and the other two flew over the Barents Sea.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Tu-95 aircraft flew over the Black Sea for five hours. Both were escorted by SU-30SM and SU-27 planes. But over the waters of the Barents Sea, there were Tu-95MS bombers, whose flight lasted for four hours.
The Black Sea has been the site of Russian military operations since the invasion of Ukraine and the occupation of Crimea in 2014. After the start of a large-scale war in February 2022, the next clashes took place between the naval forces of Kiev and the Black Sea fleet of Moscow.
The Barents Sea is located in the north of Finland, Sweden and Norway, as well as in the northwest of Russia.
On the same day, the Russian Interfax news agency reported that the frigate “Admiral Golovko” completed an exercise while crossing the English Channel and went to the designated areas of the Atlantic Ocean.
“While crossing the channel, the crew of the Russian frigate carried out anti-aircraft and anti-submarine exercises, as well as a series of training sessions on conducting rescue operations using Ka-27 helicopters,” Interfax news agency reported. About this, the agency referred to the press service of the Northern Fleet. He added that the crew of the frigate conducts anti-terrorist exercises and repels the attacks of air and naval drones of the contractual enemy.
