Every athlete knows that exercise improves fitness. Doctors say that this also applies to the heart. Moderate physical exercise can be our salvation. It becomes not only better, but also longer life. Cardiologists have proof of this.
Mr. Andrzej Mirnicki is 71 years old and has a number of ailments. An ambulance had just taken him to the hospital because he had a heart attack. “My disrespectful behavior caused me to be hospitalized,” he admits.
When talking about disrespectful behavior, the patient was referring to competitions such as the one held in Krakow on November 16. He never moved much for his health, for the better condition of his heart.
– People are running, but I couldn't. I couldn't ride a hundred meters with this bike, I had to get off and put the bike in storage – says Andrzej Miernicki. His heart attack was controlled. However, diabetes and its complications remain. “It's a pity that a 71-year-old man only now understands what the movement is,” he says.

Cardiologists encourage exercise
Moderate physical exercise helps prolong life – cardiologists argued on November 16 in Krakow not only while sitting at a scientific conference, but also while jogging in Planty Park.
– You can run in any clothes, in any conditions, regardless of weather conditions. Today we have beautiful November weather, sunny, in November at seven o'clock on a Saturday morning – as it always happens at this time. Sometimes it is foggy, humid, frosty, but always magical – says prof. Piotr Jankowski, cardiologist from the Polish Society of Cardiology.
For those who want, nothing is difficult, even in a suit and tie. Although it is better to run in sports clothes – like Tomek. – First of all, I run for myself, to prove something to myself. It's a very good way to pass the time and I also like to move, says the boy.
What was the result of the elimination of personal invitations to preventive examinations?
Physical exercise mobilizes our body to work at a high speed. This, in turn, causes an increase in the work of the heart and a faster heart rate. In this way, the circulatory system carries more life-giving oxygen from the lungs and removes more toxins.
In this way, we can extend our life up to six years. – Everything, of course, depends on the size and state of preparation. A person who is just starting to run, if their body weight is correct, can actually start exercising gradually – explains Dr. Hab. med Marek Klocek from the 1st Department of Cardiology and Electrocardiology and Arterial Hypertension of the Krakow University Hospital.
