The situation in Ukraine has deteriorated significantly, said Professor Katarzyna Pizarska from the Warsaw School of Economics in “Facti po Faktach” on TVN24. He added that at the moment there is no possibility for the Ukrainian side to reach an agreement with Russia, because the aggressors “are interested in destroying the Ukrainian nation”. – They feel that they are fighting for the survival of the nation. And it is very difficult to come to an agreement with this, he emphasized.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said on Saturday that possible talks with Russia “are possible, provided that Ukraine is not alone and is strong”. – We must take all measures to stop the war next year through diplomatic means, – he added.

Professor Pisarska: the situation has worsened

“I noticed how bad the situation has become,” he said, adding that “in fact, three or four raids are carried out every night on Kyiv and other cities.”

– My friends sleep with their small children every day, they think that today they will sleep in the bathroom, or maybe in the bed as usual, or maybe in the corridor, where it will be safer, – she added.
He also said that “the Russians want not only to scare people, but to break them, because this is psychological torture.” – If the editor or any of us had to get up three or four times at night, every night, for many weeks, we know that we cannot work normally, – he told the host Petr Kraska.

Professor Pisarska: Russia wants to destroy the Ukrainian nation
The expert said that the Ukrainian side “now there is no possibility to reach an agreement with Russia, because Russia is not about the territory, Russia is not about securing Crimea, Russia is not about securing Donbass, Russia is not about destroying the Ukrainian nation or in the way it wants to become some small nation, (…) which will be essentially meaningless, and Kiev, Odessa and all the most important centers will belong to Russia and Russia will rule them”.

Professor Pisarska said that “this war for Ukrainians really started in 2014.” – They have been in this war for ten years, hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians died, to tell the truth, they feel that they are fighting for the survival of the nation. And it is very difficult to come to an agreement with this, because they understand that it is not about the territory, but about them as a nation, he emphasized.
– Ukrainians are sure that they do not want to surrender today and are not ready. And they are sure that what they are hearing from Washington at the moment, that is, different opinions on the recognition of Russia's territorial annexation, will only fuel Russia's appetite, – continued the SG representative. He added that “if the Americans are able to provide reliable security guarantees, and Article 5 of NATO is such a security guarantee, I can imagine that some (peace – ed.) negotiations will begin.”
