President Donald Trump announced Saturday that Chris Wright will be the new secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy. He is a director of Liberty Energy, an oil and natural gas exploration and production company.
“Chris was one of the pioneers who helped launch America's shale revolution, which propelled America's energy independence and transformed global energy markets and geopolitics. He will be a key leader in promoting “American prosperity and world peace, reducing bureaucracy and ushering in a new golden age.”

Wright will also serve on the new National Energy Board, which President Trump announced will be made up of all agencies involved in the “licensing, production, generation, distribution, regulation, and transportation” of energy.
Chris Wright is a climate change skeptic. He has repeatedly said he doesn't care where the energy comes from “as long as it's safe, reliable, affordable and improves people's quality of life.”
