For unknown reasons, the 69-year-old man drove off the A2 highway towards the green belt and crashed into a nearby lamp post. The police are investigating the circumstances of the incident that took place at the passenger service center in Kozanki Wielki (Łódź Voivodeship).
The police are investigating the accident on the A2 highway in the commune of Uniew (Łódź Voivodeship). Services received the report on Saturday around 3:30 p.m.
– The preliminary findings show that the driver of the car, who was driving on the A2 highway in the direction of Poznań, for unknown reasons at one point went through the green belt towards Kozanki Wielki MOP and hit a lamppost on the way, – said TVN24, the chief inspector. The driver was trapped
– After the arrival of the fire service, the 69-year-old man who was driving the car remained inside the car, and the 57-year-old woman who was traveling with him was outside the car, – said the brigadier. Radoslav Ogrodovcik, spokesperson of the district headquarters of the State Fire Service in Poddebice.
The driver was pulled out by firefighters of KP PSP Poddebice
According to him, the firefighters first began to access the trapped driver. Then they took him out of the car. Both the driver and the passenger were conscious and transported to emergency services. – The man was transported by air ambulance to the hospital in Lodz, while the woman was transported by ambulance to the hospital in Poddebice – Ogrodowczyk added.
The police are investigating the incident. Blood was taken from the driver for analysis.
