The younger they are, the more effort they require from doctors and more care from parents. Therefore, on World Prematurity Day, the word “support” becomes even more powerful. Many parents of premature babies in hospitals can count on the involvement of all medical personnel.

A baby who was born a few months premature should have the same conditions as in the mother's womb: warm and dark – that's why there are often blankets in incubators, and the sounds should be friendly – like at home. Voice and touch are invaluable to a premature baby.

Many mothers of premature babies cannot avoid depression
If it is safe to do so, the baby is taken out of the incubator to feel the mother's body heat and heartbeat – this is called kangaroo care. Mrs. Marta Szymaniak comes from Warka to Warsaw every day to receive a psychiatric examination for her son, who was born in the 28th week of pregnancy and is still in the incubator. – Each way is an hour and a half, so I spend three hours traveling to spend a few hours with my son every day, – says Mrs. Marta.
It is a huge effort for mothers of premature babies, both physically and mentally. Most of them cannot avoid depression. After the birth, they return home without the baby and they are not always able to take care of it immediately as they would like.

– Many mothers or parents of multiple babies do not understand what it means to wear a baby for the first time or to take a kangaroo for the first time. I fed my sons with kangaroo only after 10 days, and there are mothers who wait for several months, – admits Mrs. Marta Pietrusinska, mother of Ignas and Gusio.
Therefore, a whole army of people is usually involved in supporting the parents of premature babies in good hospitals, or at least there should be.
