The owner of the cat Pandek, who was beaten for eating a slice of bacon, faces up to 5 years in prison. A 57-year-old man from Krakow was charged with extreme animal cruelty – including cutting off part of the cat's tongue. Meanwhile, Pandek is in good hands and slowly recovering.
A case has already been opened against a 57-year-old man who allegedly beat his cat Pandek and cut off half of its tongue. The incident happened on November 10 at Kurdvanov's apartment in Krakow. The police was alerted by a neighbor who heard strange sounds of the animal.
The police discovered a beaten cat covered in blood, which was taken in by the Animal Protection Society of Krakow (KTOZ).

– He worked with this man (owner – ed.). In the course of these activities, accusations of abuse of animals with special cruelty were raised. In such a case, the law on animal protection provides up to five years in prison. In addition, the man was placed under police surveillance – Commissioner Piotr Spiecz, press officer of the Krakow Police, told TVN24.
Szpiech informed us that the 57-year-old still had no criminal record.

Pandek was at risk of amputation. The cat underwent many hours of surgery and is still in a special hospital. Requires 24-hour care.

– The situation that happened to us was serious. (He had – ed.) four very deep cuts, lost a lot of blood. From a blow to the head, problems also appear in the eyes. In addition, unfortunately, the tongue was cut. He had difficulty feeding on his own and was fed through a feeding tube. Currently, he is eating by himself, said Klaudia Adamczyk from the KTOZ shelter for homeless animals in Krakow.

On Sunday, Pandek's condition worsened. – Red blood cells decreased. We needed a blood transfusion immediately. We traveled several tens of kilometers to get it. After the blood transfusion, his condition is currently stable, but we should be careful about judgments, Adamchik noted.

Will Pandek find a new home?
Pawel Slovinski, the veterinarian who cares for Pandek, revealed in an interview with TVN24 that the cat's appetite has returned. – He is very eager to please, when you hold him, he bends down and cries. This is also a good sign that he is recovering mentally. It is very comforting that the amputated paw, which was completely disabled at first, is slowly being used for walking, the doctor emphasized.
Dr. Slowinski warned that Pandek was not healthy yet and “a lot of bad things could happen.” – But now, after this week, we are very positive, – he added.
More than 100 people have already applied to adopt a cat. However, this procedure will be possible only when Pandek recovers.
