It's Saturday, December 7th. A major Civic Union event will be held in Gliwice, where the party will officially announce its presidential candidate, Rafał Trzaskowski. It may look like any other event, but a lot changes when Jarosław Kaczynski takes the field. He does not argue with his opponents through press conferences or traditional statements. “Hello and welcome!” – writes the PiS leader, quoting Mariusz Błaszczak's already famous tweet. and scoring political opponents in a series of publications.
The president's first post alone received nearly 2 million views in just a few days. This is on par with the most popular publications of Donald Tusk, who has had an account for several years. Moreover, the PiS president's activities were so media-friendly that even the prime minister featured him in X. “It's better to post one meaningful entry a day than 12 meaningless entries. But don't give up,” the government leader instructed his colleagues. However, he had to wait for the PiS leader's traditional press conference.
“As for discussions with Mr. Tusk, I have no intention of doing so,” Jarosław Kaczynski said in response to a journalist's question. -There is such a thing as superiority and inferiority, he said, flashing an unmistakable smile at the audience.
The PiS chairman is running for the X election. “In a big way”
If you talk to Jarosław Kaczynski's colleagues, they do not hide the fact that the president's participation in the X community was a long and difficult process. – At first he did not agree, did not want to, was not interested. After that, he thought about this in bed. The fact that funding PiS cuts made indirect contact with voters on social media costless was also not without significance, one source recalled.
Informed PiS parliamentarians told Interia that the leader was influenced by Paweł Głoselnaker and Mariusz Błaszczak. “It was President Kaczynski's decision,” Naschanaker said. – He understands how important communication with Poles is. Adam Andruszkiewicz, a PiS lawmaker in charge of Karol Navrocki's online campaign, said: – The President of PiS understands the Internet, uses computers many times and observes various research results and data – he revealed. – He fully understands the importance of social media in current politics and has paid a lot of attention to this part of the infosphere for many years – he believes.
Jarosław Kaczynski has an account with X, but not with a bank.
The President's debut on X raised many questions. Some observers wondered how the 75-year-old could use social networking sites if he didn't have a bank account or a smartphone.
– The president didn't change his phone number, it's not a secret. We also showed it on the recording when his niece called him (Marta Kaczynska told her uncle that she gave his entry a “heart” – ed.). We are not trying to charm reality, but pretend that he suddenly bought a smartphone – Radosław Fogiel from PiS explains to Interia. – It's not the technical steps of publishing that matters, but the content of who clicks “send.” He believes the most important thing is that the account's tweets are his own words.
There's no point in hiding it. Jarosław Kaczyński is not a regular user of X because his colleague is responsible for technical support for his account. – He often watches conferences and just comments on them. I heard from one of the PiS members that the president suddenly makes a statement while the debate is still going on, and it ends up being leaked onto the internet. – It is the president who gives the slogan to publish something. We want exclusivity in our messages, but of course we don't have much time to play around with X in a normal working day – he added.
In both formal and unofficial talks, PiS activists consider the operation to introduce their boss to X to be a success. Especially in the context of a presidential election.
– The PO probably spent 4 million zlotys on the failed parliament in Gliwice. President Kaczynski then launched his own account on X to cover the entire event. It goes like this – says Przemysław Czarnek of PiS. – He cooperates perfectly normally with Radek Vogel, who sends the president's thoughts to the network. All tweets belong to Jarosław Kaczyński. I can see he's having fun, he insists.
PiS people are jealous of the president's cat

And, like other politicians, the PiS president's publications feature hateful descriptions, but the party leader from Nowogrodzka cannot deny their validity on the Internet. The president's entrance with a photo of his cat, Fiona, was a source of particular envy at the party. I heard that Jarosław Kaczynski personally took the photo. The publication received 2 million views within 2 days and it speaks for itself.
However, the idea of tweeting is not exclusive to the president. For example, on Monday, PiS politicians complained about the price of butter at a press conference. During the conversation with his boss, his colleagues encouraged him on social media to move in the same direction.
– During the discussion, it became clear that we are approaching this subject not in a different way, but in this way. If our communication goal for the week is the anniversary of the establishment of the government, which is a bad year for Poland, the president will not impose other topics, says one of our sources. – According to the president, it was a good idea so he took a picture of the butter inside the safe.
