Source: TVN24 On the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, a drunk woman drove her car at a high speed to a traffic light. The front suspension of the car fell. The woman, whose spine was injured, was taken to the hospital.
The incident happened at 23:00 at the intersection of Polchinska and Lazurova. As reported by the regional emergency center “Meditrans”, a drunk driver “cut the traffic light with his car”. In addition to the medical rescue team, two fire and police units were mobilized to the scene.
– The woman's sobriety test showed a little more than three ppm of alcohol, – says chief commissioner Marta Sulowska from the Warsaw IV district police office.
The car that hit the traffic light had a cracked fender and broken suspension, and the aluminum frame was broken into several pieces. According to the emergency services of the capital, the driver was not seriously injured. “He was taken to the hospital for a spine examination,” wrote “Meditrans” on social networks.

What are the penalties for drinking and driving?
Driving under the influence of alcohol (more than 0.5 ppm) is punishable by a fine, restriction of liberty or deprivation of liberty for a period of up to three years, as well as deprivation of the right to drive (all or a specific category) to term. from 3 to 15 years. The court may also impose an obligation to pay monetary compensation to the Victim Assistance Fund and post-sentence assistance in the amount of PLN 5,000 to PLN 60,000.
If a drunk driver gets into an accident, as a result of which people are seriously injured, at least 3 years, and in case of their death, the culprit is sentenced to 20 years in prison. Violation of the court's driving ban is punishable by up to 5 years in prison.
From March, there will be a provision that will introduce mandatory confiscation of vehicles or their equivalent for driving under the influence of alcohol. However, in the event that the criminal's alcohol concentration is at least 1.5 ppm, a confiscation order will be issued.
