Tomasz Siemoniak presented the security priorities during the upcoming Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. It will start on January 1, 2025 and will last for six months. One of the priorities of the Polish presidency will be the fight against illegal immigration, announced the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration.
– The first topic, the topic that attracts the opinion of our society and is the number one topic among the ministers of internal affairs of the European Union, is, of course, the issue of resistance to illegal immigration, – the head of the ministry noted. According to the minister, a completely new policy and new solutions are needed.

The second area is the control and neutralization of security threats through the fight against organized crime. In particular, this applies to the issue of human trafficking, drug trafficking and the production of new types of drugs. – During our presidency, we were able to achieve significant progress, strengthen cooperation and expand information exchange, – he noted.
Third priority – issues of civil protection, rescue and humanitarian aid. Simonyak touched on the act on the protection of the population and the defense of the homeland, which was recently signed by the president.

The minister also announced that he plans to hold an informal meeting of the ministers of internal affairs and justice in Warsaw at the end of January. – These priorities or the general foundation of our president, who pay attention to security issues, are taken as something completely clear, – he noted.
