Israeli forces launched air strikes on a refugee camp near the West Bank city of Tulkarm on Tuesday, Reuters reported, citing Palestinian and Israeli officials. At least eight Palestinians were killed in the shooting.
Initially, the Ministry of Health of the Palestinian Authority reported the death of five people. The ministry reported that two women and three men, including an 18-year-old youth, were among the victims, and three others were seriously injured. After the next round of shelling by Israeli forces, the number of dead reached “at least eight”.
The al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, said in a statement that two of its members were killed in airstrikes in Tulkaram.

The Israeli army previously said it killed a Palestinian in an “anti-terrorist operation” in Tulkarm. During this operation, the soldiers arrested 18 people who were wanted and seized dozens of weapons. On Tuesday evening, the Israeli side reported that the Nur-Shams refugee camp in Tulkarm, where Palestinian armed fighters were supposed to be, was attacked from the air.
The Israeli army announced on Wednesday night that one of its commanders was injured during an operation in the Tulkarm area due to the explosion of explosives. “The commander of the Menashe regional brigade received moderate injuries and was transported for medical treatment. The other passengers of the vehicle were not injured,” the Israeli army said in a statement.
