A resident of Miedzirets came across souvenirs of the Second World War in the forest. Lubus police released photos from the discovery site. A man went for a walk in the forest in the fortified area of Midzirzecki. In one moment, out of the corner of his eye, he saw something under the shallow layer of the earth and it became clear that he came across unexploded shells. Emergency services were immediately called to the scene. It was soon confirmed that seven World War II mortar shells were lying on the ground. “After receiving the information, the officers immediately went to the scene, secured the area and called in the specialists of the military unit. The unexploded simpers were destroyed harmlessly by the military sappers. The unexploded simpers retain their characteristics despite the passage of years. Every attempt to touch moving, moving or disarming them can lead to a tragedy – an explosion that threatens life and health and can cause serious damage to the surroundings,” said the police. The fortified area of Midzirzecki, which is one of the largest complexes of military fortifications in Europe, has been witness to intense military operations for years. Unfortunately, findings of this type are common and very dangerous.
