The Committee on Health Care has sent an open letter to the United States Senate urging it not to confirm the nomination of Robert Kennedy Jr. to the position of manager of the department of health and social care. More than 18,000 doctors have already signed the letter.
The letter to the Senate was published by the Health Care Committee on its website on Thursday. The petition, which has already been signed by more than 18,000 doctors, decided to appoint Robert Kennedy Jr. to the head of the Department of Health and Human Services was described as a slap in the face to every healthcare professional who has dedicated their lives to protecting patients from preventable disease and death. “Americans deserve better,” it added.
Call to reject Kennedy Jr.’s nomination
Doctors oppose Kennedy’s nomination because, among other things, “RFK Jr. spent decades trying to undermine public confidence in vaccines by spreading false claims and conspiracy theories, even going so far as to compare vaccination programs to the actions of Nazi Germany.” “His appointment poses a direct threat to the safety of patients and the public.” The committee also adds that “RFK Jr. has no credible experience in health care or medicine.”
The 70-year-old did not respond to NBC News’ request for comment. But Kate Miller, a spokeswoman for Donald Trump’s transition team, called the letter “another hoax.” “Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s nomination will be confirmed, and those who spend their time discrediting him have no place and no voice at the Department of Health and Human Services,” he wrote in a message sent to the radio station.
As the newspaper “Washington Post” notes, the nomination of Kennedy was small. from the beginning “it has been a concern among the medical community, scientists dealing with pharmacology and medicine, as well as public health experts.”
Kennedy theory
Robert Kennedy Jr. He is anti-vaccination and a proponent of many conspiracy theories. In 2015, he compared the vaccination program to the Holocaust, and after the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, he claimed that the COVID-19 vaccine was “the deadliest vaccine ever created.” He also talked about the “ethnic targeting” of the coronavirus, which is allegedly programmed to get rid of Chinese and Ashkenazi Jews, and in particular the malicious attack on white and black people.

He also promotes a theory about the link between mass shootings and the use of antidepressants, popularized by right-wing figures such as former Fox News commentator Tucker Carlson and Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green. The future health secretary also claims that the 5G network will be used to “monitor the behavior” of people and steal their data.
Kennedy Jr. is the son of Robert Kennedy, the attorney general, who was assassinated in 1968, and the nephew of US President John F. Kennedy, who was also assassinated in 1963.
