At a press conference after the NATO Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Brussels, Marco Rubio said Ukrainians had expressed their desire to perfect their weapons to create space for peace negotiations.
– Now, President Putin and the Russian Federation are very quick, and for example, in six months, we need to decide whether they are serious and whether they want peace – the American diplomat said.
He emphasized that he wanted this because “it would be good for the world once this war is over.”

Rubio pointed out that Moscow knows Washington’s status when it comes to his desire to end the war, and President Donald Trump emphasized that if the Kremlin wants to use delayed tactics, he is not interested in dragging negotiations in situations.
– The President will not fall into an endless trap of negotiations on negotiations – he assured.

He added that it was Russia’s actions and that the words did not indicate whether she was seriously approaching the room. – For me, at the end of the day, what matters is whether we strive for peace. The American diplomat added that negotiations cannot last forever and that these are no threats to the Kremlin, but this is due to reality. This is because members of the US Congress have already begun to submit projects to laws that increase sanctions in Russia.
“So there will be pressure from the Capitol to impose sanctions that we cannot stop unless we actually make progress towards peace,” he said.

Rubio added that all this information was provided to Russian negotiator Kiriu Dmitriev “in the best way possible.” He flew to Washington on Wednesday to meet President Steve Witkoff’s special envoy.
