The world's tallest statue of Jesus will stand on a mountain in Armenia. The total height of the building will be 77 meters. The statue thus trumps the Jesus of Swiebozin and the Jesus of Encantado in Brazil. Its construction was led by Armenian politician and businessman Gagik Tsarukyan, who hopes the statue will become a tourist attraction.
The tallest monument to Jesus Christ will be built on Mount Hatis, which towers over Armenia's capital Yerevan, the website azatutyun.am reported.
The total length of the statue is 77 meters, of which 33 meters is the statue itself and 44 meters is the pedestal. This makes the structure the tallest structure of its kind in the world.

Construction plans were announced in 2022 by politician and businessman Gagik Tsarukyan. Initially, this idea was opposed by the Armenian Church. But work has begun and today the figure is completed.
Part of the statue is currently being transported to the top of the mountain. Completion is scheduled for 2025. The official name is “Statue of Christ the Savior.” According to the project, the Jesus Monument will be turned into an observation deck and tourist attraction.

The built Jesus of Yerevan is taller than the Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, measuring 38 meters including the pedestal.
The Armenian monument will also exceed the size of Christ at Swiebodzin (52.5 meters including the tomb) and Brazil's Jesus at Encantado, which measures 43 meters including the pedestal.
Armenia was the first country to declare Christianity as the state religion. This was done by Tiridates III in 301 or 302.
