Vietnam-based shipping company Asia Pacific Shipping has decided to order two liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carriers in China.
The company has contracted with China's Jiangnan Shipyard to build two 50,500 cbm LPG carriers, each valued at $102 million, according to data from Intermodal Shipbrokers.
The ship is designed to transport liquid ammonia and is scheduled to be delivered in 2027.
Asia Pacific Shipping was established in 2021. The company owns and operates a diversified fleet of vessels, including LPG carriers, oil tankers and bulk carriers.
According to data provided by VesselsValue, the shipowner has ordered eight vessels from different shipyards, with China signing contracts with Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group and Guangzhou CSSC Longxue Shipbuilding for four and two vessels respectively.
Asia Pacific Shipping has also signed a contract with Korean shipbuilder K Shipbuilding to build two tankers.
According to the company's website, it currently has 20 vessels in operation, including three LPG carriers.
Meanwhile, Jiangnan Shipyard recently received an order to build up to four 93,000 cubic meter very large ammonia carriers (VLACs) from Jardi Overseas, a subsidiary of the Bosra Group, a Singapore-based company specializing in ship chartering and logistics solutions.
This marks the Chinese shipyard's second shipbuilding contract involving VLAC within 30 days.
In late July, AW Shipping, a joint venture between ADNOC L&S and Wanhua Chemical, signed a contract with Jiangnan Shipyard worth approximately $250 million, which also gave it an option to buy two more VLACs at the same price.
