The company is about $2.4 million in arrears, with another $1.2 million due soon. The Greenbrier's past-due contributions include contributions that were deducted from employees' paychecks and not transferred to the health insurance fund, the lawyers wrote. ALERTWest is a new company founded in 2023 with the goal of providing firefighters with the benefit of wildfire detection and real-time data to help allocate appropriate resources through the use of cameras. It's a model based on a successful public-private partnership in California. Scott Shifand of ALERTWest pioneered this effort after experiencing the Camp Fire near Chino. One of Claude Monet's famous water lily paintings will take centre stage at Christie's first-ever evening auction of 20th- and 21st-century art, held on September 26th at its new Asian headquarters in Hong Kong. The work is expected to sell for HK$200 million to HK$280 million (US$25 million to US$35 million), which would make it one of the most valuable Western works of art ever auctioned in the region. The work, titled “Water Lilies” (1897-99), depicts the lily pond at Monet's home in Giverny, France. Christie's says it is one of the first works by Monet to feature the subject…
Friday, August 23, 2024 3:36 PMThe Brooklyn Center Board of Education has approved a referendum to increase new education revenue for Brooklyn Center Community Schools. Last fall, voters rejected a referendum that would have increased the district's operating tax. Brooklyn Center School District Superintendent Carly…

Why Nvidia, ARM Holdings, Broadcom and other artificial intelligence (AI) stocks soared on Friday
The Federal Reserve finally made the statement Wall Street had been waiting for. One of the drivers of the current market surge is the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and hopes of increased productivity that will boost profits. As of 3:28 p.m. ET on Friday, chip designer Arm Holdings (ARM 4.56%) was up 4.7%, chipmaker Nvidia (NVDA 4.55%) was…
