Alexander Lukashenko granted amnesty to 32 citizens. Their names have not been released, but most are known to have pre-existing conditions or are over 50 years old. “All have pleaded guilty, expressed regret for their actions and applied for amnesty,” the official statement said.
Alyaksandr Lukashanka signed a decree pardoning 32 Belarusian citizens convicted of “extremism.” This includes 8 women and 24 men. Their personal information was not provided.
All will continue to be monitored by the relevant services, according to a Home Office statement released by the Belta agency.

Lukashenko has issued his fifth prisoner amnesty decree since the summer of 2024. Thirty people regained their freedom on August 16, 30 again on September 4, 37 on September 16, and 31 on November 7. In none of these cases has it been revealed who the prisoners were or what they specifically did.
In October, the Belarusian president said he was also willing to pardon Maria Kolesnikova, a dissident and member of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya's staff.
Opponents may be released
The activist was kidnapped by masked men in 2020 and was soon found in custody. In 2021, she was sentenced to 11 years in prison for conspiring to seize power, calling for action to undermine national security, and forming or leading an extremist group.

Despite the president's declaration, it is unclear whether a pardon will be granted. Kolesnikova does not want to file a proper application because she maintains her innocence.
