At least 10 people were killed when a plane crashed into a store in the center of Gramado in southern Brazil. Dozens of people were taken to hospitals with symptoms of smoke inhalation. The cause of the incident is unknown.
A small plane with 10 people on board crashed in the center of the tourist city of Gramado in southern Brazil on Sunday. Initial reports indicate that no one survived the disaster.

“Unfortunately, according to breaking news, none of the passengers on the plane survived,” Governor Eduardo Leite wrote in a post on social media platform X.

According to reports, the plane first hit the building's chimney, then the second floor of an apartment complex, and then a furniture store. Elements of the machine also fell at several other locations within a few hundred meters of the incident site.
At least 15 people were taken to municipal hospitals, Rio Grande do Sul's public security department said. Most of them were not seriously injured. He had symptoms of inhaling smoke from a fire caused by the earthquake.

The fire department said the plane took off from Canela Regional Airport near Gramado and was heading to Florianopolis, another tourist city especially popular during the Christmas period.
Situated in the mountains, Gramado is Rio Grande do Sul's most popular tourist destination. Earlier this year, unprecedented flooding across the state claimed dozens of lives, destroyed infrastructure and severely disrupted the economy.
