Dean Skurka is the CEO of WonderFi, a company specializing in digital asset trading. According to the CBC website, this Canadian was forced into his car by attackers in the center of Toronto on Wednesday afternoon. The kidnappers demanded money. The Canadian was released after paying one million Canadian dollars, which is more than PLN 2.8 million. The deposit was made in digital currency. Then it was released in one of the parks of the western part of the capital.
– The safety and security of all WonderFi employees is the most important thing – Skurka told the Canadian portal CBC via email. “Customer funds and data remain intact,” he added.

“WonderFi is a company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange. On Tuesday, the company reported third-quarter revenue of C$41 million for the nine months of 2024, compared to the same period in 2024. It shows a 153 percent increase over last year,” the press release said.
The company owns companies that deal with cryptocurrency trading, transactions and deposits. At the close of trading Thursday, investors paid 16 cents a share last year, down from a high of 34 cents.
– As the price increases, the awareness of this space in society increases and as a result, criminals are more likely to decide what financial gain they have to carry out a physical attack on a known holder of cryptocurrencies – Jameson Lopp, owner of cryptocurrencies, told CBC to a company qualification for the protection of individuals.
He noted that the kidnapping of the WonderFi boss is at least the 171st criminal case for the theft of digital currency.
