On Tuesday, the tragic consequences of carbon monoxide poisoning occurred. In a family's house in Kutno, two boys died due to carbon monoxide poisoning. In Kossalin, a woman was poisoned by carbon dioxide in her apartment. Despite resuscitation, he could not be saved. The spokesman of the Chief of the State Fire Service spoke on TVN24 about the importance of installing smoke and carbon dioxide detectors. – This is a small investment in big security, – said Karol Kieszkowski.
The cost of a smoke detector is about PLN 60, and a carbon monoxide detector is about PLN 100. – This is a small amount of money for great safety, – said the spokesman of the commander-in-chief of the State Fire Service, brigade V. Karol Kiszkowski.
As the spokesperson emphasized, the sensors “complete the security of our home.” – We must pass the mandatory inspection of technical installations, such as ventilation, chimneys, gas and electrical installations, – said Karol Kieshkovsky.
He emphasized that “this is the absolute minimum” that, together with the installation of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in buildings with heating devices, “will only make homes safer”. – A smoke detector or a carbon dioxide detector – a really small amount of money – can save our lives and, above all, guarantee that we will be warned in time, – reminded the speaker.
Obligation to install smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in houses
From December 23 of this year, there is a Regulation of the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration, which requires the installation of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in every new building. In turn, from 2030 every building must fulfill this obligation.
