At the end of Christmas, it is customary for priests to begin singing hymns. On this visit, the question arises: how much money should be given to the priest in the envelope?
According to Catholic tradition, during Christmas carols, the priest visits the homes of parishioners and gives blessings to them and their families. Parishioners usually want to reward the visit by providing refreshments or donating money to the parish. However, not everyone knows how much money is appropriate for such a visit.
Carol 2025. How much is a priest's envelope?
How much money are you going to give the priest during such a visit? – This is the question respondents of a survey conducted by the Ariadna National Research Board commissioned by Wirtualna Polska sought to answer.
Most respondents said that an amount of several tens of zlotys is most appropriate in this case.
The most common is 34%. The respondents said they would donate between 60 and 100 zlotys to the priest. Slightly fewer, 32%, said they would donate between 40 and 60 zlotys.

In the Christmas carol survey, the answers were “100 PLN to 150 PLN” and “more than PLN 150”, respectively, by 12%.
The fewest respondents bet the minimum amount. 11 percent of respondents said they would give the priest less than 40 złoty in an envelope.
This study was carried out by the National Research Panel Ariadna in Wirtualna Polska from 22 to 24 November 2024. 507 Polish adults participated in the study. The study was conducted using the CAWI method.
