The competition for the most important candidates in the new American administration is really a bulldog fight under the carpet – former Polish ambassador to the United States Marek Magierowski told TVN24. The guest of “Rozmova Piastskiego” admitted that he had “mixed feelings” about the already announced candidates. He explained in detail about some of them.
In Thursday's “Piasecki Conversation”, the former Polish ambassador to the United States, Marek Magierowski, referred to the proposal of Donald Trump, the president-elect of the United States, in the next administration.
– I have mixed feelings. There are actually quite a few that have emerged over the past few days, as well as the official nominees announced by President Trump himself. Some of them made me happy and some made me very sad, he said.
Tulsi Gabbard? “Very Controversial”
He was referring to the nomination of Tulsi Gabbard to the position of director of national intelligence, the coordinator of all US intelligence services. – These are 18 agencies with a budget of several tens of billions of dollars. And this is a person who has become famous for many – I wonder what word to use – pro-Russian statements, he said.

– Even many of his colleagues from the Republican Party – after all, he was a Democrat who switched sides – formally and openly criticized him for certain formulas. Among other things, he wrote on Twitter that he believes that Ukraine provoked Russia into war, and that there are indeed laboratories in Ukraine where biological weapons are produced. Everything that the propaganda of Russia and the Kremlin offered in the United States, he took, – Magierovsky said.
He emphasized that Tulsi Gabbard met with Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad. – He was often criticized for this and emphasized that he does not consider it his duty to explain at all, – he said.
– He also criticized the action of the United States during the elimination of Qassem Soleimani, one of the important figures of Iranian politics in Baghdad. He criticized this step of President Trump because he gave the order, he noted.
He concluded that he was a very controversial figure. – And of course, if he became a congressman, the head of the energy department or any other department, we would not be so worried. But since he is going to be the head of the entire American intelligence service, it is definitely a very disturbing signal, he added.

Pete Hegseth? – I heard his name for the first time yesterday.
Magierovsky also commented on the nomination of TV presenter Pete Hegseth to the position of the head of the Pentagon.
– I must admit that I heard his name for the first time yesterday. As an excuse, I add that half of Washington did not know this man before, he said.
– This is a Fox News presenter who certainly has military experience and served in the US Army – he said.

He admitted that this promotion also worried him “out of ignorance, but also because of some of his statements.” – As the debates about the current state of the American army in the election campaign by the Republicans or Trump himself focused on the extent to which the American army dominates the so-called “awakening” culture – Magierovsky noted.
– That is, gender culture, equal rights, broadly speaking, – Konrad Piasecki added. – And social progress – added the guest of TVN24.
– And this was the biggest concern of President Trump and his closest associates. Since Pete Hegseth has repeatedly expressed his views on this topic as a veteran, but also as a political commentator on Fox News, I think that Trump was surprised, and therefore the candidacy between them, – he concluded.

Marco Rubio? “I can only speak highly”
Magierowski commented on the information confirmed by Trump that Senator Marco Rubio will be the new US Secretary of State.
– I can only say about Marco Rubio. I had the opportunity to talk with him, not only, of course, on the occasion of the visit of Yakub Kumoch, who was still a minister in the president's office, – he said.
– This figure is also important from our point of view, because he is a person who for many years was the deputy chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, as well as the Foreign Affairs Committee, and has great knowledge, really deep, unlike many other American politicians, about Central and Eastern Europe. Magierovsky noted.

– I remember that the conversation with him about the war in Ukraine was very fruitful. And he really identified with our view of what is happening beyond our eastern border, he added.

“Perhaps there is more concern than optimism”
Magierowski was asked if he could sum up everything that has happened since November 5th around the new Trump administration in one sentence, full of anxiety or rather reassurance.
– 60-40 percent more or less. Unfortunately, because of these two or three very controversial candidates, not only from our point of view, but in Washington itself and in Republican circles, there is probably more concern than optimism. This is really a battle of bulldogs under the carpet, this is a competition and a competition for the most important nominations, – explained Magierovsky.
As he noted, “these most important positions have already been practically occupied.” – It is also worth mentioning John Ratcliffe, who will be the new head of the CIA. And this is also a good nomination, he is a very experienced man who understands the world. But these other candidates are amazing, he said.
