SAGINAW, Mich. (WNEM) – As Tuesday's storms move away, we expect milder weather today and tomorrow. No need to worry about the heat anymore as cooler weather is on the way. A few more showers are predicted today, but they won't be as rainy as we had Tuesday afternoon.
today
Clouds will remain throughout the day, keeping skies mostly overcast. Winds will also shift to the northeast at 5-10 mph with gusts to 20 mph. These two factors will result in cooler temperatures with highs remaining in the 70s F. Temperatures will vary across central Michigan, ranging from the upper 60s F on the north shore of Saginaw Bay to the mid 70s F in the Bay Area, with the warmest being in Flint, at 80 F. Dew points will also settle into the mid 60s F during the day.
It's cooler on Wednesday. (WNEM)
There will be a chance of rain and thunderstorms this afternoon around 5 or 6 PM around the Owosso, Flint and Birch Run areas. This is the only rain chance we are tracking today. These storms may get stronger, but even then we don't expect as much rain as what came through on Tuesday. These showers will taper off by the evening.
A few showers and storms are possible near Flint during the dinner hour on Wednesday. (WNEM)
tonight
Other than a few scattered lingering showers, the remainder of the night will be dry with mostly cloudy skies. Lows will drop into the 60s, with a northeast wind between 5 to 10 mph. Dew points will actually briefly drop into the upper 50s as well.
Thursday
It will be a mostly cloudy and quiet day. We don't expect any rain, but dew points will again climb back up into the mid 60s. The high will reach 78 degrees, so it will be muggy but not hot. Winds will be out of the east at 5 to 10 mph. Overall it's looking like a nice day.
Temperatures will reach the upper 70s on Thursday. (WNEM)
Friday
The next chance for rain this week is Friday as a front moves through mid-Michigan. These fronts will move in from the lowlands near Hudson Bay in northern Canada. This will bring more rain, but temperatures will briefly bounce back into the mid-80s. The rain will ease off Friday night, but the weather will remain very nice Saturday. The First Alert Rain Predictor below is an early forecast, but currently expects about 0.25 inches of rain. Localized amounts may be heavier.
