The National Electoral Commission has decided on money for law and justice. Janusz Palikot remains in custody. The prosecution appealed against the court’s decision, which changed Waldemar Bonkowski’s sentence from community service to monetary benefits. Here are five things to know on Tuesday, December 31.

1. The National Electoral Commission decides on money for PiS
The chairman of the National Electoral Commission Sylvester Marciniak announced that “the National Electoral Commission, following the decision of the Supreme Court, accepted the financial report of the PiS committee from the parliamentary elections of 2023.” According to him, out of 9 members of the National Election Commission, four voted in favor of the approval of such a resolution, three were opposed and two were neutral.
In the evening, Prime Minister Donald Tusk explained this issue on the X platform. “There is no money and there will be no money”. In my opinion, it is stated in the decision of the National Election Commission,” he wrote.

2. Palikot remains in custody
The court extended the term of arrest of Janusz Palikot for three months. However, he can be released after paying a PLN 2 million bail until January 31.
The previous deadline ended on December 26, but the family of the ex-lawmaker and the businessman did not collect the full amount.

3. Appeal to change the sentence of the former PiS senator
Kosierzina’s prosecutor’s office appealed the court’s decision, which changed Waldemar Bonkowski’s sentence from community service to monetary benefits.
This was the second part of the sentence of a former PiS senator who was convicted of cruelty to a dog. The animal did not survive.

4. Hungary will lose more than one billion euros
According to the conditional mechanism, Hungary will lose more than 1 billion euros from the integration policy, European Commission spokeswoman Anna-Kaisa Itkonen confirmed.
This money will be lost forever. Hungary has no right to appeal. This is not the end of the bad news, as they could lose another billion euros.

5. Former deputy minister in the television of the Lukashenko regime
Krzysztof Tolwinski, a former activist of the PSL, PiS and even the Deputy Minister of the government of Yaroslav Kaczynski appeared on Belarusian regime television.
He claimed that Vladimir Putin will decide when the war in Ukraine ends and that the previous Polish government had a better policy towards Belarus.
