– Cities outside the city suffered the most damage. The industrial area has been completely destroyed – in an interview with the editorial team of Kontakt24, Mr. Wojciech described Valencia, Spain, which was affected by the catastrophic and tragic floods. As Mrs. Justina reported, there is a lack of basic products in grocery stores and public transportation is paralyzed.
The province of Valencia is one of the areas most affected by Tuesday's floods in Spain. Authorities reported dozens of deaths on Wednesday. Water washed away everything in its path. Many roads and buildings were flooded, cars and houses were destroyed.
“Outside cities are the most affected”
We were contacted by a Pole who has been living in Valencia, the capital of the province, for half a year. – I drive a truck, which is a mobile workshop. On Tuesday I was going to Malaga, but on the way I got hit by bad weather. It was after 8 o'clock in the evening, it was very windy, – said Mr. Wojciech.
As he said, he returned to Valencia on Wednesday morning. – I try to go home and to the workshop from 6 o'clock in the evening. I am afraid that maybe there will be nothing left of him – he said in the early afternoon in a conversation with Kontakt24 editors. – The center itself has not suffered much damage, but its surroundings, for example, the industrial zone, have been completely destroyed, – he noted.
– Cities outside the city suffered the most damage. I saw the effect of the flood from the window of the car. Rescue helicopters flying over the destroyed houses. A tragedy, – described Mr. Wojciech.
“We walked two kilometers and the taxi got stuck”
We were contacted by Mr. Adam, who was supposed to return to Poland on Tuesday evening, but was stuck in Valencia.
– We had a flight to Gdansk at 22:30, but it was cancelled. At 4 o'clock in the night we wanted to return to our apartment. We traveled two kilometers when the taxi got stuck due to flood. We had to cross the bridge on foot. We have a small child with us, he said. – Flights resumed on Wednesday, but it is difficult to get to the airport. We were able to book a flight from Alicante for Friday. We don't know yet if we can go back because the roads are closed. Services suggest not moving between cities, Mr. Adam said.
He added that the stores are running out of products. “People are starting to buy everything,” he said.

“Stores are almost empty of basic products”
Mrs. Justyna, a Polish resident in Valencia, also contacted us. – The situation in the city is stabilizing, but electricity and water are still cut off in many areas, shops are almost empty of basic products. Water has been bought in full, but fruits and vegetables, meat and bread are also missing, he said.
He continued that public transport was paralyzed. – The metro is not working and all intercity trains, including the connection to Madrid, are suspended until further notice – he said.
