HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) – Health Community Health Centers is wrapping up National Health Center Week with a Children's Health Day event.
The event offered free school supplies, health screenings, bike helmets and coupons to local businesses. HCHC Interim Executive Director Natalie Bass said the organization is committed to supporting the community this week with the help of others in the community.
“The most important thing is to remember that it takes all of us working together – healthcare workers, first responders, aid agencies, homeless shelters – to promote the health, wellness and safety of our community. No one person can do it alone,” Bass said. “This is a really busy week for our team because we have a ton of events. Even though it's the end of the day, everyone comes in full energy because I think this is everyone's favorite time of the week. This is a really fun way to celebrate our community, help kids get ready for school, teach kids, engage kids and let the community know who we are.”
Bass said he and other members of HCHC want everyone in the community to have access to the medical care they need and look forward to hosting the event in the future.
