Hezbollah spokesman Mohammad Afif was killed in an Israeli attack on Beirut. He was one of six victims of the shelling. In total, more than 20 people were injured in the attack. “Nowhere in the country is safe anymore,” admitted one resident of the area where the rockets were fired.
The attack occurred on Sunday. The initial shelling of Beirut's Ras al-Nabbar district killed four people, including Hezbollah's media chief. A second attack in Mar Elias left two people dead and 22 injured.

Initially, only the Israeli military reported the death of Mohammed Afif, but Hezbollah later confirmed that its spokesman was among the casualties. Afif was a longtime media adviser to Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed in an Israeli military attack on Beirut on September 27. He previously headed the Hezbollah-owned Almanar television station for several years.
Israel described Hezbollah's spokesperson as its “chief propagandist.” On the contrary, the organization called him “the great martyr on the road to Jerusalem.”

Lebanese state news agency stressed that Mar Elias, where the second shelling took place, is a densely populated area. Many people have been forced to flee due to armed conflict. AFP reporters at the scene heard an explosion, followed by emergency and fire brigade sirens and the distinct smell of burning.
Several fires broke out at the scene of the attack. One missile hit, as well as an electronics store and a car parked on the street. A 59-year-old woman who lives in the area told AFP that the rocket landed on the road she used to commute to work every day. – This is a residential area… there is no safe place in this country anymore – she admitted.
The Israeli military told AFP on Sunday that it had attacked “more than 200 targets” in Lebanon since Saturday morning.
