In an interview with Indian news agency Asia News International, the local police chief reported that avalanche survivors were in crisis. The transition of snow blocked some of the access roads. This only complicates the rescue operation. Local officials said the helicopters are not operating due to constant snowfall.

– The affected area is not available. The roads are blocked and we are working on that clearance. Our team is making every effort to get there – Colonel Unkul Mahajan, who was involved in the action, said. The Indian Army’s central commander assured that additional troops would be sent to the location.
According to local officials, the incident occurred as a result of a very heavy snowfall that recently took place in the area. They caused glacial destruction, resulting in avalanches.
