The Roman Prosecutor's Office opened a case in connection with the death of a 14-year-old British girl. Most likely, the teenager ate a dessert that contained traces of peanuts, to which he was allergic, reports The Guardian.
As described by “The Guardian” news agency, this incident happened on Thursday. The girl was having dinner at a pizzeria in Janikolence district. It was the first meal the family ate after arriving in Rome. When she got back to the hotel, she went into anaphylactic shock. He died in the hospital. His father had to be hospitalized due to a heart attack.
Italian media reports that the teenager most likely ate a dessert that contained traces of the peanut allergen in dried fruit. It is not known whether the restaurant was aware of the teenager's allergy.

A seven-year-old child died after eating pasta
This is not the first such case. Cameron Wahid, a seven-year-old British boy with a dairy allergy, died after eating pasta during a winter holiday with his family on the Amalfi Coast. He had a heart attack and died in the hospital.
His family had a long legal battle with the restaurant. In 2019, the court found the waiter guilty of murder. He sentenced him to two years of probation. The chef of the restaurant was acquitted. The family of the deceased was awarded £288,000 (approximately PLN 1.4 million) in compensation.
