Grandmaster Jan-Krzysztof Duda lost 0:3 to the current leader of the world ranking, Norwegian Magnus Carlsen, in the semifinals of the World Blitz Championship in New York. He won a bronze medal.
In this version of the royal game, the Pole stands on the podium of the world championship for the third time. He won silver medals in 2018 in St. Petersburg and in 2021 in Warsaw.

Unlike in the quarter-finals, in which the 26-year-old grandmaster from Wieliczka beat American Fabiano Caruana 2.5-0.5, he started the competition to reach the final in black, not white.
Against the world number one, who is fighting for his eighth Blitz title on Wall Street, the Pole lost all three games. The Norwegian will play for the title against the winner of the second semi-final between Russian junior Jan Nepomnyashi and American Wesley So, under the FIDE flag.
The World Blitz Chess Championship will be decided tonight.
