A mysterious metal object crashes into the village of Mukuku in Kenya with a huge impact and loud noise. The incident was picked up by the space agency, and the origin of the half-ton hoop was revealed.
A ring measuring 2.5 meters in diameter and weighing 500 kilograms fell on the Kenyan village of Mukuku in Makueni County on Monday. The force of the impact was so great that the noise could be heard for many kilometers.
There were no injuries and no losses were reported as a result of this unusual incident.
Kenya Space Agency releases statement
The case was handled by local investigators. The Kenya Space Agency was also alerted to the incident and began investigating the object, issuing a statement on Wednesday.
The agency said the metal object that fell from the sky may have been the rocket’s separation ring.

Kenyans have launched a lawsuit to explain why space debris landed in areas inhabited by humans.
“This is an isolated incident that authorities will investigate and resolve using established international space law frameworks,” the agency said in a statement.

The hoop is located at the agency’s headquarters, where it will be further investigated.
“We want to assure the public that this facility does not pose an immediate safety risk. Our experts will analyze the facility and use existing frameworks to identify the owner. We will continue to identify and inform the public of next steps and outcomes,” we wrote.
