It is in our interest to change the current policy of the American administration, even if the option is peace, losing some territories, but together with ensuring the independence and the ability to defend Ukraine, – said Marcin Khorala from Law and Justice on TVN24. He said that “this is a realistic and still relatively good scenario” for Poland, although the optimal scenario would be “a complete victory for Ukraine”.
In the program “Kawa na ławę” on Saturday on TVN24, the guests were asked whether the possible peace talks related to the war in Ukraine would be beneficial for Poland. – It is clear that the optimal and best scenario for Poland is the complete victory of Ukraine and the restoration of all territories. There is probably a compromise here, said Marcin Horala (PiS).

Horala on the “real, relatively good” scenario for Poland
– But does the trajectory and the way the war is progressing really show that it has progressed in this direction? Absolutely not, he said. – And the simple continuation of the current policy of the American administration will lead to the fact that this war will continue for another 3-4 years, we will tell ourselves that “only a complete victory” will be achieved, and in the end Ukraine will be destroyed. and destroyed in all aspects, it will collapse – said Marcin Khorala.
– And therefore, changing this policy of the American administration, even if the option is peace, the loss of some territories, but together with ensuring the independence and defense capability of Ukraine, is in our interest. We should not pursue such a policy that the train stops and we pull the curtains and pretend that we are moving forward, he continued.
Konrad Piasetsky, the presenter of the program, pointed to these words and emphasized that there are no guarantees in the plan proposed by J.D. Vance, because if Ukraine does not join NATO, there will be practically no guarantees, and this is a problem. imagine now for the next 50 years German, British, French and Polish troops standing on the border or demarcation line between Ukraine and Russia. – Here everyone asked what is the best scenario for Poland? I answered which ones are the best, which ones are realistic, which ones are still relatively good, and which ones are pathetic. A simple continuation of the events so far will be tragic, said Marcin Khorala.
In late September, incoming Vice President JD Vance presented the assumptions of Trump's plan to end the war in Ukraine. He spoke about the need to establish a demilitarized zone on the border between Russia and Ukraine. According to Vance, this line “had to be greatly strengthened so that the Russians would not attack again.” In turn, Moscow “remains a guarantee of Ukraine's neutrality outside of NATO and other allied institutions from Kyiv”. He also suggested that “the conflict continues because American arms companies and financial institutions make money from it.”

Zelensky: ceasefire without guarantees is very dangerous
Currently, Russian forces occupy about 20 percent. territory of Ukraine. The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, pointed to the possible negotiations with Russia in recent days. Speaking at a press conference after the European Union summit in Budapest on Thursday, he said it was “very dangerous” for Ukraine to talk about a ceasefire in the war with Russia without an agreement on security guarantees.
– I think that today's talk is very dangerous and we know which of the leaders will introduce and increase it. We are talking about a ceasefire. First a ceasefire and then we will see. A very scary issue for all our citizens. (…) Who are you? Your children are dying, they are dying there, your houses are being destroyed? What are we talking about? Zelensky asked.
The president noted that the ceasefire since 2014, when the Russian Federation occupied Crimea and part of the Donbass, ended with preparations for a large-scale offensive. According to him, the ceasefire will lead to preparations for the continuation of the occupation of Ukraine and the destruction of Ukraine's independence and sovereignty.

“We don't talk about it”
In turn, at the end of October, Volodymyr Zelenskyi emphasized that Ukrainian authorities do not dispute the possibility of obtaining NATO membership in exchange for giving Russia the territory currently occupied by the country's forces. – We don't talk about it. However, I believe that this media insertion is not accidental. Perhaps some partners have these thoughts. That's why they don't talk to me directly about these issues, but of course they check through the media. I think that everything here depends on the Ukrainian society, Zelensky said in a conversation with journalists.
According to the president, the Ukrainian side now raises the issue of security guarantees in all negotiations. – The best thing is NATO. In time of war: an invitation, completely open and a strong position in all diplomatic formats. This call, I think, does not depend on Russia's opinion. When other partners are sure that they are more powerful than Russia, we will have everything positive in this regard, he noted.
In response to the question whether Ukraine intends to start negotiations on NATO membership without the occupied territories, Zelensky noted that “no matter what path we choose, from a legal point of view, no one will treat the occupied territories as the territories of other countries. will not recognize.”
